aright so its sad i had to move back in with my parents but i want to grow maybe 1 or 2 plants to get the hang of it but i CAN NOT increase the light bill by much at all so what would be a good setup for that? and what could i expect from said plan?

CFL's are your cheapest option for electric consumption, as far as lights go.
What you could expect to get depends on more than just the lights you use.

well put smokey, i would like to add in that i have used the red spectrum 300 watt cfl's for veg and flowering and i was surprised that the bud came out tha way it did. could have been the strain but i think a little cfl buddah god was helping out along the way...

Blue spectrum for veg and yellow for flower, I think I've got it the right way round.
This will get you the most out of your grow using CFL's, as I said before alot of other things come into play when determining your yield, like the strain and how good the genetics are is a MAJOR factor.

very good question. you averagley need 20 watts per square foot. so say for example your grow area is 2 ft / 2ft / 3ft you would need roughly around 240 watts all together for your one plant. thats not hard at all. i would even reccomend that you use two of the 300 watt equivelant cfl's of the amber spectrum. that would give you great results for veg. another idea is to use a single 300 watt cfl overtop. and a couple smaller cfl's of around 150-200 watt equivelant under the edge branches and foliage to promote good strong undergrowth if you will. then for flowering if you move up to a larger room and your plant is larger, you will also want to then bump up your lighting a lil bit. maybe go with a 150 watt h.p.s light horizontally over top of the plant and two of the 300 watt cfl's under the edges for underlighting. hope this is usefull in some way to you.

If you are worried about the light bill going up aren't you worried they will smell it? Some plants can get to smelling very dank.

Im a new grower myself, but i live in a small bachelor and was afraid someone would be able to smell it when it was growing - and they COULD - it was rank! But I bought an automatic deodorizer from the grocery store, you know those things that spray a scent? This one sprayed an odor ....mixture... that neutralized the smell, and you cant even NOTICE it anymore. But put it as close to your plant as possible. Mines in my closet. When I had it outside my closet you could still smell them, and as soon as I moved it into the closet, the smell disappeared. As well, get the one with the batteries, because its easier to move around, and it lasts for like 2 months!
I had my parents in my apt, and they had no clue. It was 16 dollars and I have it set for every 19 mins, and my apt smells great
Good luck!

Another tid bit for your consideration. Last time I grew, during flower there was a hell of a smell. I have a scrubber and was using it, at one point I thought it was fine but it's like cigarette smokers, they can't smell themselves. I would go to work, clean clothes on, thinking I was stealthy. Turns out, as I was told, I reeked of fresh dope every day. . .
