Greetings All,
For the last 10 years I have been on antidepressants for chronic depression. Weed makes me happy but I’m tired of the risk and cost associated with purchasing. I’ve decided to build my own hydroponic system, and I live in an apartment in Fairfax county, Virginia . I intend to make my system look like a locker (or something else inconspicuous) and have it locked in a closet in a spare bedroom. My questions are the following:
1) My property management team makes 2 visits a year to see if you’ve trashed the place; for thirteen years we’ve gotten high marks. If they find my locked system, do they have the right to cut the bolt or force me open it?
2) If I am arrested, since my wife’s name is on the lease(she dose not partake but is very understanding), will she be arrested as well?
3) After the plant is harvested, and curing, how do I keep the smell to a minimum?
4) Is there an amount accepted for personal use in Virginia, and if so, how much?
5) Any recommendation on books on apartment growing?

yes they will arrest u both & unless u have 2 rooms & each of you live in a room you could dispute it. as long as you both share the dwelling you both get charged.....DA may decide to drop her charges but she would be arrested.
I really dont think they can ask you to cut a damn thing.read your lease all that fine print is there for a reason.
read up in the FAQ & other grow sections.do ur homework b-4 you commit to doing this.
check Norml for your locals marijuana laws & regulations....

Go online to va.gov and read up on the laws. If it's illegal in VA - you WILL both go to jail if you get busted.

As far as your housing - if you are in public housing - I wouldn't even DREAM of doing what you're doing. The public housing can lose their federal monies - so they're pretty sticky about that stuff.

If not in public housing - read lease.

Have you ever been in or near a grow room? The FIRST thing you need to explore is how you are going to conceal the scent. I have family that uses activated charcoal for exhaust fan - seems to work pretty well.

Good luck - whatever you do. I am just setting up to go hydroponic now - but I'm legal - so no worries for me.

the other guys covered legal well so I will hit odor.if you are just growing a few plants,something like Odor Killer(a gel that nutralizes odor) would work fine,sometimes even more effective than the gel is a bottle of the refill fluid with an airstone bubbling away in it.if you are going to grow a lot of plants or really smelly strains a carbon filter is the way to go, youll also need a fan for the filter.
carbon filters are the best option, but I grow in an apt as well and the gel works great for me.
