someone help me end my growing virginity

Lookin to grow my own stuff to accomendate my ever growing love for this wonderful plant.

Ill be growing in my closet (big walk in) which will have its doors open 24/7 because its in my room, which is isolated from the rest of the house, and i can lock my room door. :P

I have a huge 1 meter upright fan which i will have on a low setting.
I plan on using 18/6 for vege and 12/12 for flowering.
I will be buying a 400w light.
I will be using miracle grow soil, remembering to water around the plant, not the base.
I plan on allowing the plant to vegetize to about 2 feet then start the flowering process.

I have but a few questions for you experts...

1. Should i place my stand up fan against the back wall of the closet so it blows into the plant, or should i have it against the back wall and angle it at a side wall so the force of wind that hits the plant isn't too severe. (its a huge fan)

2. what is a good strain to grow for a first timer?

3. after germinating my seeds, and planting them, how do i determine the sex of the plants so i can seperate them?

4. after i start my flowering process, should i continue to ventilate even after i shut off the lights to give the plant its 12 hours of dark? And also, when is the best time to water the plant during both the vege period and the flowering period.

5. How will i know when my flowering period is over and what is the procedure to cure my crop?

Any help would be greatly appreciated


any other suggestions will be a huge help! Thanks. If i can get this project started ill keep a post up with constant picture updates to show progression.

If you would take alittle time and research the SF boards you will find the answers you are looking for my friend...visit the chat room when you have a chance..there are great people there that would be very willing to help you in your quest to grow the best herb...growing is give and take relationship...you will learn by trial and error on how to grow...me and a few others have execellent threads on growing here in SF comm...agian welcome and anything i can or the others can do for you please feel free to ask..

There are a lot of questions there that require long answers...lol, Ill just give a couple tips concerning getting started. We can discuss all the other stuff as time comes for it to be necessary information.

What seeds to plant? If youve never grown before, I would suggest doing a bagseed grow to start. If you feel you must buy seeds, I would go with something like Norhtern Lights which is good smoke and easy to grow. Check Nirvanas website, I think they have them pretty cheap.

Concerning the fan. You do want a light breeze blowing across the plants. The swaying motion strengthens the stems so when you get fat buds on top they wont fall over. But dont blow em over till they touch the soil....just a light breeze is best. Do what you gotta do with that fan to make that happen.
