I have to disagree. While some folks have had a good run with digi ballasts, Most have suffered through constantly replacing blown bulbs. you cannot run a high performance bulb in a digi, until maybe this year...Lumatek has been experimenting and changing out stock in stores on the west coast, and suggest you use a standard phillips hps, instead of a high performance bulb.
I have never before now...had anyone ever claim that lamps last longer in
digi ballasts!
Since you asked...
Be aware and research big ticket items before spending money. If you are new to growing...you don't need the hassle and inconsistentcy of a digi ballast. IMO. Wait 'til they get the bugs out.
I bought a New Advanced raw 1000w hps ballast from a leading supplier a couple years ago. Used Hortilux until 3 months ago, when I bought the new sunmaster super hps 1000w 150,000 lumens.
Personally; I like the tried and true magnetic ballast. Dependable-standard of industry for a long time. Peace
