im going to be making a grow box that is 3 ft wide 3 ft tall and 1 ft thick i was planning on getting cfls for the whole thing but hear that just for 1 or 2 plants a 70 watt hps light during flowering would make a huge difference can you please tell me what cfls exactly for seeding and veg? and if the hps idea is a good one or keep running the cfls?

HPS is a great Idea, you will be limited on space most likely though. For that amount of space you might want to stick with CFL's unless you plan on getting a decent ventilation system set up as well. Good luck

I"m sorry the most I've used fluro's for is starting off seedlings, I don't know that. I always recomend compact fluro grow lights around 100 watts. At least 1

so if i rigged up two 100 watt cfls this should take me through seeding, veg, and flowering? what if i were to flower with 150 or 250 watt hps (bigger yield?) ?

Yes two would be great for your box and yes that hps will bring you more flower growth

would heat become a problem with a 150 watt hps? and do i just use the hps by itself for flowering or could i?

You'll need a great vent system with a hps in a box that small. Those things put off a lot of heat. You can use fluorescent for veg and flower. Hps give bigger yields but with fluorescent you don't have the heat problem. If I was you'd I'd get 2 fixtures that holds 3 2ft fluorescent tubes. Put one on the top that you are able to raise and lower, and put the second on one of the walls for undergrowth lighting. You could use a couple CFLs instead of the of the second fixture. With mylar coated walls and decent ventilation that should be plenty of light and airflow to get a decent yeild.

Best bet would be to make the box a bit taller. 3ft wide x 1ft deep x 5ft tall would allow you to use the hps, of course you'd still need a good vent system but less chance of you burning your plants to a crisp.

If you are going cheap then just buy a small oscillating fan, and have it blowing through a hole in the box.

1 other important factor is your box being light-proof or not. A box that has light leaks is going to produce hermies so you won't get that 100% female bud.

Well you could drill/cut a 4-6" hole and on the outside cover it with one of those clothes dryer exhaust covers you see on the back or side of houses. I've seen that, or I had a grow cabinent that I cut 2" holes about 5 and covered the outside with 90 degree black pvc elbows. I gluded a couple elbows together to make a couple quick sharp turns and that worked as well.
