Stoner Buck$$: 87.59 | What To Look For Ok, I don't know if this is the right forum for this thread, but I think it is. If not, forgive me.
Anyways, I'm still new to smoking, and I'm just now beginning to be able to tell (after I smoke it, of course) good weed from bad weed, so to speak. How can I tell when I'm buying whether or not it will be good, rather than having to rely on people's word? Is there a way to tell based solely on appearances, or what? I recently bought some and was told it was quite good weed, but I smoked a pretty fat J by myself and I was only high for an hour....by far the worst weed I've ever smoked, so now I'm looking for advice, hints, tips, knowledge, wisdom, whatever.
I know these are probably stupid questions and it's probably fairly common knowledge, but I truly don't know. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Stoner Buck$$: 1,621.40 | Re: What To Look For First of all if the person selling it to you is NOT someone you know well and goes "THIS IS GOOD STUFF MAN" don't believe them. A lot of times they're just trying to sell the crap and prey on newbies or people who don't seem to know whats up.
Brownish colored weed is usually not the best stuff, it will get you high but not the way you want. Too many seeds in that stuff most of the time anyway.
You should look for something thats green, or bright green, the more odd colors on it the better (for example....light green with white veins or red "hairs" all over em...yummy)
REALLY good stuff can be purple colored, or dark sticky green.
Smell should be strong like skunkish or something similar to that. If you don't go "DAMN THIS SMELLS HELLA GOOD" when you smell the bag, chances are its not the best stuff. (unless you have a cold or something lol)
Usually a bag of GOOD stuff costs anywhere between 40 to 70 dollars for an 8th. If someone says "I got a half ounce of good stuff for 50 bucks" don't believe them, no one in their right mind would sell a half O for 50 if the quality is good.
find other smoke buddies who may have more experience and learn from them. Good potheads teach other potheads how to be better potheads.
Enjoy, welcome to the world of smoking and seriously enjoy these days.

Enjoy, welcome to the world of smoking and seriously enjoy these days. | The funny thing is, I actually know the guy quite well. In fact, he's the one who introduced me to smoking haha. I think he was just trying to get it off his hands or make a quick buck or something...I confronted him, and he apologized but didn't really give me an explanation. It's all good now, because he gave me some better stuff for a discount, but still it sucked at the time haha.
Thanks for the advice though, that certainly helps. What about the density of weed? I've heard that the more dense it is, the better. Is that true? |

Is that true? | Definitely not. Good buds should be nice and fluffy. I mean, I guess hypothetically high grade could be compacted and still be good, but you get a much more pleasurable smoke with good fresh buds.
Simply, overly dense weed is generally an indication that it's lower grade. |

here are a couple threads to look through so you have an idea of what the good stuff looks like nugs of days past I like Buds. Dead or Alive...

Stoner Buck$$: 210.06 | Re: What To Look For okay here are a few things to look for when buying weed
Price: if its REALLY cheap. dont think your lucky. think that they think your an idiot.
Colour: if its brown and looks gross. odds are it is. if it looks colourfull and inviting. like a littlekid would want it? then its good.
texture: You do not want HARD and DENSE weed. you want something fluffy, and check seeds. if there are alot. then its bad. look for bright greens, reds, purples, you know.
Smell: if you smell it and say FUCK then its good. if you smell it and dont get much of a smell then. well. you dont have good product
these are just things from past experiences. correct me if im wrong on anything. |

Stoner Buck$$: 329.13 | Re: What To Look For I've gotten some hella nice chronic for cheap. Probably in the top 5 of what I normally smoke.
Density isn't a reliable characteristic of weed (or atleast around here) I've gotten some dense ass weed that got me super baked, and I've had fluffy shit that just gave me headaches.
For me, I usually tell by smell, texture, and color. (some purple weed can also be stress!)
Really crystally = good, red hairs = good, doesn't crumble easily = good.

You'll see some weed that looks like trash and will promptly escort you to the moon, you'll also see some shit that looks bad ass and smokes like lawn clippings. There's so much in the hands of the grower, it's tough to say "look for this specifically". Eventually someone will ask you the same question. What will you say then?
