How to maximize a med garden harvest

Everything I learn online points me toward shortening the cycle. Startinbg the flowering when the plants reach a minimal height etc.
Well I am a medical marijuana grower and am limited to flowering no more than 6 plants at a time.

One strategie that I will implement is to harvest only plants as they come ready, as opposed to harvesting the entire crop at once. Harvest one and put another in it's spot in the flower room.

My local mentors however, feel I should let the plants get very big before flowering. Sort of an outdoor approach to indoor gardening.

So, the question is: Say total harvest weight over 12 months. Quick turnaround harvest=more smaller harvests. vs bigger plant harvest=3 harvest over 12 months. Which will give most weight overal.

Let's remember that the buds on lower branches are smaller. It kinda'f seems like I'll be sacrificing smallest buds for quicker turnover.

Wha'd ya'll think? <---Thinking Cap

Re: How to maximize a med garden harvest

well there are benefits to both of course if your limited to flowering only 6 plants at a time i would go with having several harvest a year so u can always have a steady supply of fresh herb . of course yield will depend on your skills as a grower and the strain, there is also no limit on lights so your yields will be high with either option .. the only real downfall i see from letting them get big is space and ultimately the waiting and conservation if u don't watch how much u smoke u may run out.

you say like there is a conflict here...¿ i think what you may not be taking into account is the use of a separate light in a separate room used for vegging the plants while the flowering takes place. if the law dictates no more than 6 plants in flower at a time, how many are you allowed to have growing in total¿ the biggest benefit to not chopping all of your plants on the same day is that it spreads your workload out. instead of looking at 6 plants that need to be chopped tonight, you only have one. another next week, another the next, and so on

when you harvest depends on when the plants are mature. the flowering time for a given strain will always be the same, the size of the plant has very, very little to do with this(freshly rooted clones and mother plants may take slightly longer to start flowering). what you should be considering at this point is exactly how much space you have and how to absolutely fill it with luscious green growth. the best way to start about that is to gt yourself a veg light and letting them little girlies get nice and fat before throwing them into flower. from there, its just a trial and error until you figure out the perfect size to flower them at.

if you have plants that are all the same clonestock, i would HIGHLY suggest taking one(or half) of the plants you have flowering, and trim off the lower branches, all of the stuff that wont develop into much. then compare the growth of the upper nugs of the trimmed and untrimmed plants.

these plants are fun to play with, you can learn a lot by simple experimentation.

Re: How to maximize a med garden harvest

I have too agree with my man tokin there....
split ur workload over a few weeks...
How many can u have total in plants? 6 flowering....how many can u have vegging?
If space is the ? then split ur grow space into 2?
Or my fav..do a perp grow...where u have plants done every 2 to 3 weeks..?

LMAO...WIFE JUST WOKE UP AND SAID"FUCKING GROW LIGHTS KEEPING ME UP..DIDNT KNOW IF IT WAS DAY OR NIGHT".... its 4 am here now...lololol

i think with your current limitation of 6 plants total, your best bet would be to harvest 3 plants at one time. quantity of plants being an issue, you do want grow out each individual plant as big and bad as possible. this is do-able with a perpetual harvest. but each plant would need adequate veg time for this. your 6-plant limit inhibits the benefits of the perpetual harvest because there is no time for plants to grow bigger than they would be in a a cycle-harvest.

3 plants in veg at all times, 3 plants in flower.
harvesting 1 plant/month=1 month veg time. 12 plants per year.
harvesting 3 plants/2 months=2 month veg time 18 plants per year.

the more plants and space available, the more beneficial the perpetual harvest method is.
