I harvested, hung the girls up to dry, and then went out of town... o.O; so now I'm back and my bud is all dry and kinda shitty. It smokes good, it tastes awesome, but it smokes too fast and it's crispy I just clipped/crunched off all the excess leaves today and put the bud in a plastic bag. Does anyone have and suggestions for rehydrating it? I've heard orange peels work, but I don't know how/how many/etc. there is about 1.7 ounces in a 1 gallon zip lock bag if that helps. Thanks!

Several things you can do.
Orange peel, piece of lettuce, piece of bread. Put in the bag with the product and it will equalize the moisture content of the product and the item you put in.
I actually use a product made for cigar smokers that is designed for a sealed environment. Here is the link: BovedaPacks.com is your best source for Boveda Humidification Packs
I use the 69% bags for a sealed jar, they last about 3 months and the beauty is they add or subtract moisture as needed. Herbs best friend IMHO.

I would personally suggest the piece of bread myself, have tried it, it works, also works if you are shipping cookies across the country. bread doesn't get as nasty as it dries at as lettuce does.

The bags are the BOMB. they cost about $4 each and worth every penny. No transfer of flavors or smells either.
I don't work for them or anything either. Just passing out some info I tried and it works well.
Please report how they work for you to.

Lilly | Sounds like you've got more bud than you can manage. (yeah, i'm jealous!) You could send me half of it and I can check the moisture content for you!
Seriously though, the orange peel thing does work great. It works really well if you get some really dry brown mexi brick. Adds some moisture and also adds a nice flavor. I've found that a 1/4 of the peel will rehydrate a 1/4 oz really well. It's kind of a trial and error thing. Check it frequently as you don't want excess moisture either.
Good luck & enjoy that smoke!!
STAY HIGH

anybody ever just use a spray bottle with H2O, seal the bag up for a day? I'll admit it, not something I like to do on a daily basis but....

try putting a fresh hot blueberry muffin in there........ don't leave it in too long though, the hot moisture from the muffin will absorb into the buds quickly along with the flavor!

all tht fresh dry bud does burn up fast, but it has to be dry in order to last long and not turn into mold, and any fruit or veggie will rehydrate it, i like to use grapes, they work fast, dont matter if the bud sticks to it cos its easy to remove from the skins, and you can just eat the grape when your done with it
i like my bud to be a bit moist too, maybe dried just a day or 2, to get all tht great aroma and texture, just to feel all tht sticky goodness on your fingers, and cos i cant wait tht long... |
