OK what’s the skinny on food dehydrators. I love how mine drys out my dill out likety split.
I have a feeling you’re gonna say they are a bad idea. But why? Yes, it’s gonna stink the house up to high heaven but why are they a bad idea for drying bud.

I know nothing about these things, but I am interested if you have any luck with dehydrating fruit ... I love snacking on dried fruit when the munchies are upon me ... Purchasing this already dried fruit is pretty expensive, maybe worth the price of a dehydrator ..

Also Donnie, the store bought dried fruit can sometimes be extremely
high in sulphites. Something you wouldn't have to worry about if you
were preppin your own.
I'd be interested in hearing more about this too. I go thru alot of fresh
produce and I love buying seasonal foods, this might be a good investment
for me... with the amount my birds go thru alone.
A very simple answer to your query likem...By dehydrating you are bypassing the dry/cure process that allows for stored nutrients to turn into sugars, allowing for the sweeter taste to develop...It really dies work, but most never get the experience due to lack of patience...
If you dry until twig snaps, then bag for a week or 2, for finer inner drying, then put in the dark for a month, opening jar every couple for a few...that will be some awesome sweet reefer. Peace
Damn Lulu...You made me miss my Indian Ringneck, "Indi" Been a long time. Bummer. Oh well...Over it. May be time to find a new Bird...They are a blast. Peace
Aye 95 is high
what is like 70's and medium low RH?
As for dehydrators for fruits. They work fine except I always can 'taste the plastic'
another hint for them is to make sure and cut things of similar size and thickness for even drying.
Agreed. This sounds weird but my favorite thing to dehydrate is sweet yellow onions. I dry tons of them and then keep them in a mason jar and then just throw some in when I cook. They smell fabulous and taste great. I'm going to try and do an ass load of garlic and maybe some green onion.
