The purpose of the diary is to allow whoever reads it to be able to replicate it with the greatest of ease. I will include pictures of nearly everything I use in the grow. From the assembly of the box to the germination of seeds to the mixing of the soil. It's all about making it easy to copy. So sit back, toke up, and follow along.
Day 1 - April 16th, 2007
Today I picked up my materials for this grow.
Ocean Forest Potting Soil from Fox Farm Fertilizer Company
Perlite from Sunshine
Jiffy Peat Pellets
4 1/2" Square Pots
Soil Test Kit from Rapitest
I already have my fluorescent lights and materials for the grow box itself, but I will save that information for when I post the assembly of the grow box.
------------------ Day 1 (Cont.) - April 16th, 2007
To begin, I started the germination process today.
I removed the seeds from their bag with a set of tweezers, as it is not good hygiene or practice to handle the seeds with your bare hands. I then placed the seeds on a moistened napkin. The water used to moisten the napkin was reverse osmosis water with a ph of 7.0. The napkin should be moist, but not dripping.
I then folded the napkin until it looked like this...
Then the moist napkin was placed into a plastic bag. I breathe into the plastic bag to add CO2 and humidity, then lightly fold the bag over to keep a little bubble of air in the bag.
The plastic bag is then placed into a shoebox and placed in a drawer. The seed needs to be in a dark place.
Next update will come when seeds have germinated.
------------------ Day 2 - April 17th, 2007
The seeds have successfully germinated, but the taproots are still quite small I will wait until they are about 1cm long before moving them to jiffy pellets.
I did run a pH test on the Ocean Forest Potting Soil from Fox Farm.
As you can see the test results show I have a pH of about 6.5, which is just fine. Chances are the taproots will reach my desired length by tonight, so I will be adding another update that includes the transfer of the seeds into their jiffy pellets.

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
To start, I cut off the bottoms of some plastic cups to use as a makeshift tray for the jiffy pellets. Then I placed a pellet in each of the cups and added distilled water.
Then I placed the germinated seeds into their respective jiffy pellets with the aid of a set of sterilized tweezers. I sterilized the tweezers with rubbing alchohol.
Then I lightly covered the plants with the peat in the pellets.
Well, it's been a while, but I've got some good updates to post today. All the plants are doing well. The little runt is still a little runt, but it's still growing fine so I'll let the lil' guy grow all the way out. The smell is quite pungent and has incredibly skunky smell.
I added two 2700K CFLs to help the LR2s in their upcoming flowering period. I haven't seen any signs of sex yet, but will surely keep you up to date.
Checked on the LR2 today and discovered 4 or so white little pistils. It's a joyous day. Nothing much else happening otherwise. My camera isn't well equipped enough to take pictures of the pistils, but I will be adding some picture updates tomorrow, hopefully the pistils will be able to be seen.
Now I'm just praying the UltraLowLowRyder turns out to be a little girl as well.
It's a great feeling to know that my first grow will turn out to be successful, now how successful is still to be determined.
All the plants are doing fine, the bigger LR2 has a little problem in it's lowest leaves. The Sour NL is beginning to show similar problems in its lower leaves. The pistils are abounding and new ones join the fun each day. I watered with RO water on Friday. I'll probably be watering tomorrow as well. No ferts for the LR2, but the Sour NL will get some more Grow Big. I had Fimmed the Sour NL and both are recovering just beautifully.
Here are some pictures to keep you up to date.

I tried to capture the pistils that can be seen at the top.

Bigger LR2 Lower Leaves Yellowing, Browning
I tested the pH and the soil read out at 6.9, so next watering, whihc is tomorrow i will make sure to test my water and lower the pH to around 6.2
I was initially thinking a Mg problem, and perhaps the pH is too high to allow the Mg in.

If anyone know what might be awry in the grow let me know. I'm not overly concerned, but I would like to nip the problem in the "bud" if ya catch my drift.
Thanks for stopping by MidnightToker and Jabberwocky, I appreciate the support. It's wierd, since I keep my grow a secret to the people I know, it's nice to be able to share it with someone.
Day 38 - May 23rd, 2007
It's been awhile since I posted an update, so here are some picture shots of the babies. I have thrown away the ultralowryder as it was a male and I didn't have any use for some ultra lowryder pollen. I just fed the LR2 with half strength Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom for Fox Farm.

Bigger Sour NL
I will be cloning this Sour NL on June 1st. Right now it looks like I will have 6 great 3 inch clones by then. The clone sites are already about 2 inches long.
im a first time grower myself, and i am also growing lowryder 2s. however, mine are looking quite different. im on, like, day 50 or something, and i can barely see the pistils of the plants, and only see one bud site growing on them. have the males and females been together too long even though i cant see the difference? also, im not seeming to get nearly as many leaves as you, mine are much taller, but dont have a lot of leaves. any idea why this is? not enough light? lights too far away from the plants? will i still get bud out of it? any tips or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
also, could you post a picture of what the pistils are supposed to look like, i cant seem to tell...this is all a little confusing for a first timer like me.
1. get rid of the tin foil (it doesnt reflect the light evenly and can cause burn spots on the plants) u could use mylar if u have the moneys for it, i assume thats a cabinet grow, i would paint the inside of it with white paint matt finish
2. get yourself a fan in there for air movement, it will strengthen those stems up
Yeah chambers, thats not enough light, the lights are way too far away. Fluorescents can be 3-6 inches from the top of the plants, raise it up as they grow. 50 days in and you can't tell sex is a really bad sign. The light is mostly non-existant or you haven't put them on 12/12, which I'm assuming you did 12/12. Add more lights, like double or triple, or you won't get anything even worth your time. What do you have 30-40 watts there or what?
