Well this is my very first attempt to grow, its a rather sudden and cheap start and hope u all will bare with me.
I germinated and planted my seeds ago 1 week ago, they come from my own stash so no money wasted if i fail. They seedlings are showing really nice.....
I have 2 plants under 2 40 watt daylight deluxe fluoros and its about 3 inches away from the top of the cup thing.
I am mainly doing this journal for some input and advice as to how to make my grow that much better.
so heres some pics of my ladies(hopefully) after 1 week in soil........

Looks like fun. Did you use store bought potting soil? If so, no need to fertilize right off, hold out for a couple weeks. You'll eventually want more light than that if you do want something to smoke. I've heard many of the other growers here also mention that clear cups are a no-no. The roots don't like light. I've never started in a clear cup, so I didn't know. By god I wish you the best of luck.

The Soil is MG Seed Starting Mix and i havent used the food becuz i have the gut feeling thats not the right stuff......
but since clear cups is a no no when can i transplant them into bigger pots?
and by more light how much more do i need? all i can afford right now is fluoros and if i need more than 2 then i will have to buy another fixture....
TY for the reply, hope to see more...

You can always mix and match your fertilizers, just keep an eye on the numbers and the quantities. You may also hear otherwise from other folks, never bugged me though. So that's a personal experience thing. As for the cups? I would wait to transplant until they've developed for a week or so. Or just put the clear cups into opaque ones, BAM! If you want to see something usable and you don't want your plants to stretch too much, you'll definitely need another fixture. You're on the money though with that light right on top of the plants though. Once they've sprouted you don't need the greenhouse cups, upside down on top ones, is what I'm talking about...

ahhh ok, well the plants have been in soil for roughly 1 week already, i think i accidentally put the smaller ones seed in sideways which wasted energy for the root to find its way down
i figured i would keep the greenhouse effect until the sprouts touch the top of the cup????? no or yes??
but another issue i have stumbled upon would be light reflectivity....
i am trying to convince my uncle t ostop by PHX SOG Store and grab some Poly Flim about 5.5 mill thick and 20X10ft to cut up and place accordingly in my closet will that suffice?
ty for the help and if u have ANY kind of advice, shoot it my way

i guess no one likes my thread
But to anyone who does look, why would my sprouts wilt and fall over when i take off the top cup (greenhouse effect) for only 2 hours?
i put the cup back on and within 30mins it was standing straight up again...........help lol

What's the temperature in the area your growing in? The reflective poly film is a good way to go, matte white paint.

the temp is usually between 78-82 degrees Fahrenheit i figured that was the problem becuz the cup is creating humidity and moisture and when it is removed with not enough light it stuns my plants growth
will provide updated pictures most likely today

your seedlings are used to being in the close to 100 percent humidity range. you are going to have to ween them off of that for sure. since they don't have any rigidity they will need to be watched closely until they can stand up. find a small fan, and place it in a way that the plants will get some very light wind, just barely moving the leaves.
Also poke some holes in the bottom of the cup, and make sure your not over watering them. Its ok to let the soil dry out somewhat. And go ahead and put a VERY diluted serving of that fertalizer too.

well i had holes in bottoms since day one, i lightly spray the top of the soil till i see a slight change wetness and put the tops back over it......
so you sayin just take the tops off, kick up the heat, and put fan on lowest setting??? should i also put a stick or something to give them that extra support?
but that fert is chucks, not like powder so to dilute it would be just putting like 2-3% recommended?

If the soil hasn't been moist all the way down then there is no root system Quote:

That was my problem, the root system didnt develope properly becuz i have only been keeping top of soil moist not even wet
Ok, so im gonna soak them tonight, keep under continuous light, toss some toothpicks for extra support, and check on them often.
I should have some pics tomorrow night if u are insterested in the process of the grow Ty for your input and your help.

Ok, It has been 9 days since i put the germinated seed into the soil.
I have been keeping it under constant light, and fed them water when soil looked and felt dry.
the plants are growing at a decent pace in my opinion, but the 1 plant has small barely noticeable yellow spots.
from what i have read, that could be a few things, lack of N, lake of light..... idk could someone help me out???
Well, here are some pics of both plants side and top views, and notice i put black tape around the bottom container to keep the roots in the DARKNESS!!!! lol
Please, Help me before i screw this all up

looks good so far. The yellowing is probably not from the light. Did you give them any ferts?
