Speed Queen T5-250 HPS(1st log)

This is my first logged grow and only my 2nd grow. I grew some bagseed many years ago by starting indoors and eventually moving outdoors to finish. I had to harvest before whe was ready as my bro in law took notice of her one day.(he was pd at the time)
Anyway...
This is Mandala Speed Queen. I've read a ton of great press about Mandala strains and figured it would be a good one to start with.
I am starting under T5's/CFL's and switching to 250W HPS when they get closer to flowering time.
Running a 4" Vortex with a DIY Carbon filter out an attic vent. 9.25" Passive intake at the moment (fed from a register in the utility room ceiling). Running two computer fans for circulation. The HPS is in a tube that vents by way of a 4" duct booster fan and out into the attic (sealed so there is no stench...hopefully).
My cab is real small 4.5 sf so it is going to be a four plant max in there. I may germ some Satori to fill the cab if I get ambitious. My plan is to do a psuedo LST until they are sexed and then train them on a screen. Psuedo SCROG i guess.
I sowed 4 seeds directly into Fox Farms Ocean Forest on Jan. 17th.

Re: Speed Queen T5-250 HPS(1st log)

SQ4 was the first to show herself. Althoug she has a weird set of leaves-kinda twisted/mangled looking.
I've had 3 of 4 actually break the surface. SQ 3 is has germinated but is not motivated like the others. She may not ever see the light of day but i will see what happens. If she doesnt break thru in a few days i will germ a couple Satori instead.
They are under 18/6 light schedule and seem to like it enough. Only 6.2 water for now. I am going to hold off on ferts for as long as possible. Temps have been in the high 70's for the most part. My humidity is steady in the low 20's.
Check out those stems man they are thick!
Close ups of SQ 2 and SQ4. SQ4 is the weirdo with the mangled leaves.

Good start on the Early Queen. I see you planted right into the soil instead of trying to germ them just like the Mandala site says. Good luck with them.

Re: Speed Queen T5-250 HPS(1st log)

Well, i did some gardening...
I re-potted into 3gallons today. They are have yet to be fed anything. Although i am going to give em a small taste of Liq. Karma next time.
I added another one to the mix about 10 days ago since one of the original 4 did not make it. Pretty good germ. % if you ask me!
They have suffered through a few power outages and some colder than optimum temps. which i am afraid caused them to be confused. I noticed growth almost stop for 3-4days afterwards. In the past week they have begun to really go again.
The plan is to give em a week to snuggle into the new pots and then..... BAM!! into 12/12 they go!!

Re: Speed Queen T5-250 HPS(1st log)

I had a blast today in the grow cab! While i was removing the T5 and the CFL's i broke one of the CFL's. BLAST!!
Anyway...I got the 250hps in there now. It is about 5" from the top of the tallest plant. Figured i would go ahead and let them get used to it for a while before they go 12-12.
I'll probably tie em down later today or tomorrow.
They are happy so far. Although i think i see balls on one of them, not sure though. In a few days or so I'll try to get a good close-up so someone can advise. They are 31days from sprout so it might be too early to see.
They are already starting to emit an aroma of goodness.
No ferts yet. The close ups are of the plants in the front of the cab.
peace

Re: Speed Queen T5-250 HPS(1st log)

yeah, everything looks damn good. nice thick stems, tight nodes, theyre ready to bush out.

looks like some minor cupping on a couple of the leaves, with the tops of the plants possibly being a little hotter and having that low humidity would be a cause of this- nothing major, but something to be aware of
(':

youre going to have some real beauties in a few weeks.

Re: Speed Queen T5-250 HPS(1st log)

Thanks for checking in.
The humidity does stay in the mid 20's for the most part.
I've got at least two females. The others are not telling yet.
They are really starting to bush out. I am amazed at how much they grow in a weeks time. They have a kinda sweet+green smell to them already.
