| Re: Hi everyone (introducing myself)
Thanks so much for the warm reception. I really look forward to being active here.
I've been working with ASA Florida for some time now. Are there any fellow ASA volunteers around these parts?
A little background on me: I've suffered from chronic pain and PTSD with GAD for years. It's awful. If any of you have had panic attacks, you know of what I speak. At times I would have 10-20 attacks a day--which was paralyzing to say the least.
I went from doctor to doctor, specialist to specialist looking for relief. I must have tried every single MAOI and SSRI known to man...and none of them touched my condition-but did produce a lot of other nasty side effects.
Then a friend of mine suggested self-medication. That was my first time trying cannabis. Luckily, this friend was knowledgeable enough that he steered me clear of any sativas (due to their propensity to induce panic attacks) and helped me out with a strong indica.
That was the dawning of a new day for me. Suddenly I found that I could cope with being alive. I could move without pain, and I could actually participate in my life, rather than cowering and simply waiting for the next panic attack to wash over me.
That was about 6 years ago. It was so life-changing that I immediately began trying to work with local advocacy groups.
So, if there's anyone else like me 'round these parts, know that you really aren't alone, and that the right strain really can solve all your ills. That's the key though...being very selective about what you take into your body, narrowing it down to those particular strains that work for you, and finding someone who specializes in delievering those specific strains to medical patients.
So, in conclusion, and this really isn't hyperbole--marijuana saved my life.
