i don't know about this. there is no scientific evidence to back-up this claim. that is a form of new age therapy. dont get me wrong, i'm a wiccan and we definitely believe in the healing power of crystals such as hematite, but that is spirituality, not science.

| I'm not one to argue with a witch mind you... but, dearie, you are wrong.
I'm just guessing that you most likely don't suffer with any type of arthritis being your how old??? I have first hand knowledge that it does work... it works for me and many others... and we don't even have to pray about it, although that has never hurt.
Magnets not scientific? Since when? When you started looking at everything from a 'wiccan' point of view perhaps?
Broaden your horizons and do some research before opening your post.

broaden YOUR horizons..dont hate on the wiccan thing..

Down kitties, bad kitties.NO KITTIES...quit the fighting before it starts.
We're all allowed to believe what we want to believe and we're allowed to tell ourselves or experience for ourselves what does and does not work for us.
Ritalin calms me down and helps me focus due to my adhd, but it caused horrible acne and stomach reactions, yet I was forced basically to take it daily for 15 years.
Ritalin could make Joe Speeder next door go flying off the walls and headfirst through the window but he's gonna believe it makes him SUPERMAN.
you can believe magnets help your joints, proven or not, if it works for you and you can live life a little more comfortable, then whos to tell you that a magnet does not heal your pain when you've felt and experienced just the opposite of what they say?
Just like whos to say, scientific evidence is the proof to everything in this universe, just because science doesn't prove it, doesn't mean it's not happening or working for someone.
Just because you believe something, doesn't mean the rest of us do, it also doesn't mean that the rest of us are wrong either.
now toke a j and smile.
(this has been a service of the Stoner Forums Peer Mediation project, I really have no frickin clue what I'm talking about and I'm baked on some freakin bomb hydro, however, I feel all intelligent and had to diffuse the situation, I am in control, bow to me, I am your ma......oh sorry.......PEACE)

I'm not stupid, and I know when something works and does not work.
You have a lot of nerve... I think your having a "bad trip" again.
This old, out of touch stoner has just as much right to an opinion as a hip, know it all.
Now, to everyone else..
I don't hate anybody or anyone's beliefs. I just did not like being labeled 'new age' when I did not even mention new age anything. Hey... she quoted me... I consider that a direct statement to myself... am I wrong?
Well whatever...I apologize for letting my claws out and being a great big meanie...

Ok enough of the magnet talk on this thread, if you two want to continue this debate make a new thread for it and allow this one to get back to its original topic.
Peace

I tried to get my Mom to try my brownies, but she wouldn't. I think that if my step Dad wasn't here she might have.
I am a medicinal user in MT, recovering alcoholic also. I am VERY honest with my Doc and he knows that I have been sober almost 15 yrs. Anyway... I have found for my back pain that ingesting herb works the best for pain. Can you get your hands on some Cannabutter? Make her some brownies, perhaps try that??? Taking pain pills is so bad for the liver, and brain. After awhile they quit working and the person needs to take more. There is magnet therapy, aromatherapy, color therapy and many more that can help your Mom. Marinol is out there too, a man made pill form to take instead of smoke, there is another option, although I've not heard much positive about Marinol. Thoughts are with you and your Mom!

Update: Well, not really an update, but an interesting note to this, if anyone cares.
Over Thanksgiving dinner our family was discussing my Mom's arthritis and how she was able to cook that huge meal when it hurt so bad to move...like how in the world did she lift that pan with the turkey in it? But anyways, we got onto the topic of her medication, and she said that in discussions with her doctor about possible treatments that one of them was medical marijuana. Obviously she didn't go that route...too bad. Eventually I am still going to suggest it to her. My dad though, a former high school stoner, started laughing and then got angry at her for not choosing it. "Why didn't you go with that hun? I'd smoke it with you to help you out you know.." Haha, that was pretty funny.
I think that it will give me additional credibility when I do suggest it to her, since her doctor did the same...that also makes me feel better in knowing that my conclusions on my admittedly limited research were correct.

Originally Posted by perfectsong13 Ok, well I was giving this some thought (a bit of research as well) today for some random reason, and I believe that my mom could benefit from medical marijuana. She has osteoarthritis. She is in constant, chronic pain. It is not pretty to see. She also has major issues sleeping...she's not an insomniac, but she does not get much rest. She is currently prescribed vicodin and another painkiller, although I can't remember what it is. She takes quite a few a day, from what I'm told by my sister back home, because it is truly the only way she can cope with the pain (which has apparently also gotten much worse since I've last seen her). I was having a discussion with some friends about how terrible those prescription painkillers can be, and in realizing that my mom is taking large doses of vicodin and I don't even know how much of this other pill every day, I started to worry a bit..I mean, I love her, I don't want this pills to destroy her liver and God knows what else. So I thought, hey, chronic pain? Trouble sleeping? Sounds like weed just might be the ticket. I did a little bit of research and from what I found it looks like when it comes to osteoarthritis as opposed to rheaumatoid or any other form of arthritis, it is kind of hit or miss as to whether or not it will help with the pain. It seems as though it should, because the cannaboids are supposed to help with the inflammatory pains, which is obviously the main cause for pain with arthritis...and of course it would help her sleep more. So I'm sitting here thinking and I really believe she could benefit from it, and I want her to give it a try, but how in the world can I suggest this to her? She's very much against herb, even for medical use, and this also would certainly be a giveaway that I smoke (which is also something I want to tell her, but that would be a big problem). I don't want her to continue hurting her body with these goddamn pills...if she just decided to toke up instead, I think her life would be much better...and there's no way in hell she can deny it due to any health risks since she is a smoker and she's taking massive painkillers. It would improve her health. She always said she never did drugs because she didn't want to live her life in a haze, but now that she's on these pills all the time, I'm told by my sister that she's in those dazes all the time now anyway. So if she made the switch, that would go away. Sure, the first few times she'd be getting high things might seem fuzzy and weird for her, but after a while, she would be very normal and functioning I think...maybe not completely, but definitely more so than she is now. How in the world can I suggest this to her? | yeah your mom could deffinately get it you would just need to figur out how to bring it up to her. I would go with the its better than pills story
