Stoner Forums - A Marijuana & 420 Friendly Community

I'm looking for a couple of people who are willing to share their testimony, not necessarily first-hand, but at least as a close by-stander, such as caregiver, regarding medical marijuana.

This would be for a candle-light vigil for medical marijuana patients to be held in the Dallas area on Saturday, May 16th, in a public park.

Here is what I have planned so far. If you can help me connect with anyone on the list, or help me plan this event in any way, please contact me.

I can't pull this off alone. I have to have your help. I don't live in Dallas, and never have. I'd like to hold the vigil at a public park, have a band, have someone bring a trailer in and sell food. I'd like to have speakers, featuring a couple of medi-pot patients, perhaps someone from one of our organizations, such as LEAP, TCCC, NORML, etc. I'm hoping each will agree to set up a table there to pass out educational information and accept new members. We can sell T-shirts for the event in advance, and at the event, too. We'll get sponsors to work with one of the big orgs so their advertising dollars are tax deductible. After the T-shirts are paid for and any necessary permits and other expenses are paid for, the rest of the proceedes will be split among the attending organizations to cover their expenses in lobbying for HB 164.

So, who knows of a park with public restrooms, adequate parking, and possibly a covered area, that is easy to find, in or around Dallas?

Does anyone know of a band that would play for tips, and has its own stage?

Is anyone familiar with any Metroplex area businesses who would help sponsor the event T-shirts?

Does anyone know someone who can design the event T-shirts?

I can't do it alone. I need your help. HB 164 needs our help.

I got tired of waiting for it to happen, so I started planning it myself. The big orgs around here are responding wonderfully. DFWNORML(dfwnorml.org) agreed to host it, TCCC (www.tccc.org) is going to be there (Texas Coalition for Compassionate Care). I'm having phone trouble, but today I'm returning a call from a LEAP speaker.

We've got one advertising sponsor, LIT Monthly (www.litmonthly.com), one booth is booked with an artistic organization for different kinds of art (music, painting, poetry, etc.)- check them out at ArtLoveMagic, they are, "ArtLoveMagic"!

Deb, over at ArtLoveMagic, turned me on to someone who can make the T-shirts for under $9.00, meaning we can probably sell them for $10 each. I'd really like to sell tons and tons of T-shirts in advance, so everyone can be wearing them to the event, if they want to.

I expect to hear back from a specialty food vendor later today.

Still working on finding a park or other suitable location, and a band.

Thanks for keeping track of this event, everyone. Almost everything that happens in Texas happens in the Austin area. It's 'high time' the Metroplex has something big going on! So, if you're in or within half a day's drive of this event, please show up! I'm working hard to make the event both fun and serious.

i would hit up Craigslist for musicians. Dallas musicians seem to frequent CL. I am an acoustic musician but I do not have a PA system.

Live music, speakers representing Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP); Dallas/Fort Worth NORML; and hear from some medical marijuana users, too. There will also be ‘pups to pet’ who are looking for adoptive homes.

Meet DFW NORML, TCCC (Texas Coalition for Compassionate Care), and do a little shopping or browsing. Meet a lot of great people who share your compassion.
