Hi my buddy just started a little grow setup in his closet he has one 4' fluorescent fixture with two bulbs for the seedling stage and now veg stage is approaching and he is wondering what he needs to get next? he was thinking about a metal hide light? but doesnt know what wattage to get. he only has 4 seedlings right now. But he is looking for the cheapest setup he can get? any help or suggestions ? right now hes just using shitty bag weed for the first grow in his closet. he has it in this old wood thing with white paint all around the walls of it. a fan inside with the flouro's and a mini space heater cuz its cold in there.

any help with what lights to get next for real cheap plsss ive been searching the forums and so has he but were still a little clueless.. we dont plan on selling this is just kinda for personal use

I don't Know Much About Indoor But A 400w fluro should Do fine for Veg Stage And 400w Hps For flowering Should Do It.

If you want to use a MH light a 400w would be fine for 4 plants

from what ive read metal halide's are good for the vegetative stage of the plant , and also flouro's are good for all around growing. In the flowering stage of growing high pressure sodium lights are mad'good for budding.
also 400 wattage is good for a small amount of plants for both mh, and hps

Last go round I had a 1Kw HPS and four 150 Watt CFL lamps all going simultaneously, did a marvelous job. During the very beginnings of the project it was CFL only, until the little ladies were big enough to handle the heat from the HPS. It's a good combo.

hmm alrite dont kno if i can afford a 1000w hps lol but im trying to get a 400w. thanks for the help everyone

Oh yea, I'm not advocating running out and buying a 1KW setup, I'm just saying that the CFL's will work fine along with the HID fixture of your choice.

look into a switchable ballast or a dual fixture containing MH & HPS.this way you can take better advantage of both spectrums of light.dont forget about ventilation & air movement very important.good luck

Ha! I did get the Multi lamp ballast myself, something happened to the MH lamp in shipping. When I hooked that fucker up, it looked as though a welder had exploded inside the bulb. Violent blue and white arks, all the while the internal wire structure of the lamp melting down. It sounds like a drawn out ordeal but the whole thing only took about 7 seconds. I was laughing so hard.
