male and female he created them

i really need to know how to tell male from female plants. i dont wanna sound like a novice here, but i kindof am. ive grown once before, outside, and they never made it to mature plants. now im growning inside with an aeroponic system. i have a few questions

whats the reason for seperating them?

i know something about a nub forming where the leaves stem off or something, but how soon should i be able to see these nubs?

and how much time do i have to remove the males before theyll germinate the females?

i have a lot more, but these will do for now

ok the reason you seperate them is so the male doesnt germinate the female and causing it to go to seed

i have added a couple of pictures to show you the difference between a male and female
you should remove the male plants as soon as you confirm they are male
