Cool Dead fish

Well one of my gold fish died.

Anyways, was wondering if anyone else ever put dead fish in their soil? and no I am not crazy... I think it gives good natural nutrients. I've done it before with success...

I do it because I dont think that the fish would have done anyone any good in the toilet, or thrown in the trash. I think of it as a way to keep the cycle of life going ...

Re: Dead fish

I do not think that putting a whole fish in your soil is going to help..maybe cut it up into chunks.

Re: Dead fish

Fish emulsion is made from dead fish and can be good, I wouldnt put a dead fish in my soil (whole or in chunks).
It will rot and may cause issues and not only that, it will stink like mad.

Re: Dead fish

You know I hear it is a very good method. And you do actually want it to rot that's why it's only recomended outdoors. Remember the Indians introduced this method to the Pilgrams so they could get plentiful harvest. Thus we have thanksgiving
