Please be aware that digital cameras write what is called EXIF data to each image. That data can be read with the correct software.

EXIF data contains certain attributes of the image, such as exposure time, Fstop etc.

It ALSO contains the camera's serial number.

If you used a credit card to purchase your digital camera every image you post is traceable to you through your credit card via the serial number contained in the EXIF data included with the image.

Just a word to the wise for all you kids posting fun pictures of wonderful foliage and glasswork.

not to hijack the thread ric but i was watching a techno show last night, the same thing exists with color laser printers as well. it imprints on every single page it prints.

i was kind of shocked at how much is being traced and compiled.

I have mixed feelings about this kind of thing, sucks when taking pics of bud porn, but its good to know other kinds of pics can be traced.

i cant really see anybody going thru all that trouble just to bust some stoner posting some bud pics unless its some big grow or something than i dont see any reason to be concerned.

I have a question...I really don't think the store has any idea which camera you are buying while in the store. I feel the only way it could happen is if you fill out the warranty card and put the info on there. Right? I am not interested in being right at all..I am all about knowing the facts...enlighten me to this if I am incorrect.

I never knew about this – it might be a good thing to stop child porn.
But mostly I think it’s another way Big Brother can keep an eye on us.

Like if they seen a picture of a person they liked they could find that

Good info... but now you've made everyone paranoid with a digital camera!!! So how do I get rid of all of the pictures that I've posted so far How do I take them down?

Like I stated earlier, the store has no idea the of the serial numbers of the cameras they have in the store, HOWEVER if you filled out the warrenty card it is on there and may be remotely possible.
