ive been a everyday smoker for the past 5-6 years and just recently ive been having issues with my heart when i smoke...it feels like it pumps too fast and sometimes even misses a beat, i also start to lose feeling in my left arm...i dunno if its bad blood circulation or what the deal is...anyone heard of this or know anything i can do to help it get better???

I really think it's unwise to rely on information from a public forum, especially when it's something as serious as your health. If you're worried and feel unwell then it's time to see your doc and have things checked out properly. Cannabis does increase heart rate somewhat and whereas for most this isn't an issue it could be if you have some other underlying problem.

For peace of mind I'd say see you doctor. Goodluck x

LuLu's absolutely right. GO SEE A DOCTOR TODAY. You may be at risk for a stroke because of the way your arm is acting. I am curious though, does this happen only when you are getting high? It could be high cholesterol or something related to your diet or blood sugar. Don't be afraid to be open with the doctor about your marijuana use. Doctor-patient confidentiality has got you covered.

I just to play the devils advocate here. Have you checked your pulse while these events are taking place? Many times I've had what I thought to be palpitations and felt my heart doing what I thought was erratic hammering against my ribcage. Though when I did check my pulse during one of these events it was slow and absolutely normal. Even though at the same time it still felt as though my chest was going bonkers, the feelings in my chest didn't match my pulse at all. Not that I went immediately to a physician, though as most of us do, I did eventually and not a thing wrong with me. . . Physically. . .

yeah it only happens when i smoke all other times im fine

this used to happen to me all the time freshman year of college. at that point i had been smoking for about 3 or 4 years. Me and my friends would always hike or go on long walks to smoke because we didn't wanna get caught (UNH popo's are fuckin intense). but after we smoked for a while my heart would feel like it was POUNDING absolutely out of control. It would hurt, although i was never sure if it was my lungs that hurt, and my arms would have pain in them too. sometimes it would feel like my heart beat would go really hard for a few seconds then stop for a few, and it almost felt like an artery burst. After getting outta breath and sitting for like 30 mins it would go away. but it was scarey.

at that time i used alot of ritalin and adderall, and even though i wasn't always on it when it happened i'm sure that had a part in it. i slowed down on pills, slowed down on cholesterol and ate more wheat, and exercised more. now it never happens, but it is scarey that someone else had almost the exact same thing i had.

also gotta think it could be in your head. i think the fact that i was paranoid about it made it happen more and worst. Another interesting note, i learned to scuba dive before i ever smoked bud and had no problems with anxiety. i took a few years off and smoked a ton of weed and tried to go over the summer and i had a panic attack before i could get underwater. i didn't even feel panic but my heart was pounding and i felt like i couldnt breath. long story short, weed can fuck with your head's ability to regulate your heart...you may wanna see a doctor, i always wanted to and probably should have. i don't know what i woulda done if i ended up almost dying, or even worse...

mjtu, what line of work are you in? I only ask because over the years, the trades I've been involved in have taken a pretty substantial toll on my physical person. I've fallen from some fairly high places (extension ladders without safety equipment) and lifted things that I shouldn't have, just because I could. Throughout this, I managed to do a little damage to my nervous system. Sometimes when I smoke, because I believe it heightens senses, I feel the injuries, lot of tingling in my arms, back, chest, etc. Occasionally I get the sensation of extreme electric shock, I can say that because I've been a conductor of electricity many times (not intentionally, not since I was little anyway) this is getting a bit long winded and disjointed. . . Actually I don't know what the point was. Oh! Any of all that crap sound familiar?
