Perfect stoner job!

Alright so I was looking at the classifeds today and ran across an advertisement for a job where I can travel across the country advertising a magazine. I called about it and landed the job so as of tomorrow I will be get a payed trip to Dallas, TX and train there, chill and then leave with a group to a coutry-wide tour with a bunch of guys my age. I'm pretty stoked about it. So I may not be online for about three weeks. If I can I'll get online and keep you guys informed on my progress and where I'm at. Maybe I'll run across one of your cities. Well wish me luck and until then blaze it up!

I guess...

I have never been one for working in a regular job..I tried..many things..
from being a surveyor..to import exporting...to electrical engineering..
but like many...you really dont know your talent is till you run into it by accident...no matter how much you school or train for something..it may not be what you want..

I always wanted to be a musical instrument designer.. I went back to school and studied electrical engineering... at the time..the z80 chip was the happeneing thing...digital technology was making a big hit in the world...and apple computers came out with "the classic"...It was exciting times....
so it was school...surfing.. homework for me...(growing to keep my tuition up....)

after graduation.....


I applied for work at many music companies... like groove tubes..marshall amps..gibson guitars..360 systems...etc... There was a company called K-muse inc..i could of swore i smelled pakalolo in the presidents office..

i took off to Baja for 3 weeks...surfing ..getting stoned and just being a beach bum before i had to really start concentrating on finding work...
but i had a positive feeling that something will come......


got call backs on three companies...which i started with groove tubes..
then k-muse then gibson guitars... i stayed stoned alot..everybody did..we didnt care about the hours..we were all salary..and loved what were doing...

Of course..with musical instruments..you have to keep up with the times..companies laggin get left behind...i found myself close to being unemployed...we were bought out by the giant company and slowly they were firing us..one at a time...the paranoid feeling like whos next wasnt welcomed for me...it boiled down to two guys...my friend..software designer..amazing guy..and me..hardware designer..
I finally got the word , after i finished the pickup design , that i was to be released..sad day...to see this..I was even smoking a J with him.....he also said i had...2 weeks vacation time that they couldnt pay me for...so i took it..

I was sick of going to company to company all bankrupting..or selling out..it was time for a change.......

i got a call from a surfer friend....he said he needed my help...i go for what?...he needed me to coordinate a coke commercial...??what??..
i never done this before...film shoot? he said it will be easy come on down......

i soon discovered....this was it..all that schooling...expenses...time..work..
i did....just made see another part of my life i didnt
know i could do..so no regrets...

I got signed up with a japanese ad agency..
I traveled around alot ..many good film sessions stoned..
good wrap parties...good pay..what more can i ask for..
this can get old too...living out of a suit case can be lonely...
different locations all the time...no home cooked meals...jus restaurants.....

now after 20 something years... im still just a film maker..always will be..even if i try to be something different..i will always be a film maker..

a stoned one...

@ naLu: That's cool. I'm actually just getting into film, myself. Well, at least getting into actually making it, anyway. I'm doing preproduction work on my first short film, which I'll be shooting this summer. Funding the whole thing myself, which is a little scary, but it should turn out well.

@ Toasty: Sounds like it could be pretty fun. But "perfect" stoner job? I dunno, I always figured that the "perfect" stoner job would be one where you got paid to smoke weed.

ugh im gona be getting a job at my moms job (whes an rn at a nursing home) doing recreation, playing games with the odl ppl ect, 15 bucks an hr lol

Going to be filming with a DVX100. I want to find a second camera, though, for some parts. The trickiest part is going to be getting around the fact that the room where we're filming is a bedroom in a very old creaky house with hardwood floors. It's got absolutely the most perfect look and layout, though, and since it's in a house I used to live in, I'm able to get it for free.
