Hey all....
Myself and the girlfriend are thinking of going to Amsterdam soon. I've heard something about smoking weed being banned in the coffeeshops. Is this true? Can anyone confirm this?

last time i went which was in June, smoking in public areas was banned and technically you're not allowed to smoke weed on the streets anymore...but we did it anyway, we just tried to be less conspicuous in areas where there were popo

smoking in public places was banned on July 1st in Amsterdam

but that ban does not include coffeeshops....... i think

i was about to freak out after reading this. i'm planning my first trip there later this year! but i did some research, and it looks like the July 1st ban is a public smoking ban on tobacco only. apparently places, like coffee-shops even, will need designated smoking areas for tobacco. weed is still ok though!
