Well first off I never call it Marijuana. This name was given to our sweet plant by the US government as a way to criminalize cannabis. They couldn't call it cannabis or hemp when trying to make it illegal, because the hemp business was so large. So they called it marijuana cause no when knew what the fuck that was, then they proceeded to spread lies on the evil of this plant.

The name marijuana usually refers to the dried (bud) flowering clusters of the cannabis plant, and has its origins of its name coming from mexican or latin american in origin. The term marijuana largely rose in popularity due to the efforts of drug prohibitionists in the United STates during the 1920's and 1930's. Hemp refers to a source of industrial materials and under the name Cannabis refers to the entire broad category or as the legal term for medicinal uses.

lmao, you said they GAVE it the name to make it look bad..that's not at all true. They took that name from the mexican term marihuana, they used it in propaganda yes, along with hemp, indian hemp, and the other slangs they used back then like reefer. It's absolute bs to say that "Marijuana" is a negative name given by our government because it's not true, there was no difference in 'hemp' or 'marijuana' if you really study their propaganda, they talked of hemp as if it was marijuana and they used the term hemp when doing so.
