so yesterday i heads myself on up to the compusa, lookin to pick up a new hard drive. beins that ive been out of the hardware loop for....about 6 years now, i ask dude if i can use the sata hdd with my old(ide only) mobo. i only ask because they had an adapter that lets you use a ide hdd in a sata slot, and was curious to know if it worked the other ways round. dude said oh yeah, no problems at all.
so i get home, unplug my cdroms from the mobo, slip the adapter card in, and boot up.
didnt even give me a post beep, just lockage.
so, instead of further delayance of the inevitable(my current system, sans extra hdd and video card which just got.....too slow, is pushing 7 years), i got a whole new setup.
so! new specs:
a dual core amd athlon 64 x2 6400+
2 gigs of ddr2-800 ram
a geforce 8600gt with 256mb pcie 16 sli supported vid card
and either the onboard sound, or the same 7 year old sound card i have now.
hopefully that one will last me a good nother 7 years

i still got me 6 year old dell going strong ive had to replace some parts a new hard drive a new cooling fan, some more memory a new graphics card but all in all this computer still works great and its still very fast. one day though i will need a new one hopefully i can get about 2 more years outta this one and ill get a bitchen computer by then they will have some super fast machines.
Recently got a Dell XPS system with quad core 2.6GHZ processor, 4GB RAM, 1GB 8800GTX video card, 500GB HDD. and audigy 7.1 sound.
If I add up all of my storage capacity throughout my network, I am just under 4 terabytes of storage and growing. Adding another TB in the spring.
SOOOOOOO many pics and music...
JESUS...terabytes is really necessary? i got shit loads of pictures and movies and games and songs on this computer and i only got an 80 gb hardrive. lol
