well, after a delivery snafu, i finally got the box. slapped her together and fired her up. ran into a few minor snags along the way, but ironed right on over em, and here i are.
actually had the hardest time trying to get the computer to realize that it was already connected to the internet. at first it didnt recognize the presence of the network card(its an onboard connection...), but fixed that by removing all of the "other devices" in the device manager, putting in the mainboard cd and refreshing, allowing all of the unknowns get their ids off of the cd.
so, now it recognized that i had a newwork card, but when i put in comcasts cd to get my shits up and going, it goes through its little pretest, and says that my modem isnt connected to anything. i tells my comptuer, 'bullshit, its connected, im looking at the flashing fucking light on the back of my computer that tells me its running at 1 gig/s.
exit that, fiddle around with the plug a little and try again, same thing.
then i go to the command prompt and do an ipconfig/ renew
it takes a little longer than it usually does, but when thats done, its now showing my connection-specific dns suffix as yaddayadda.comcast.net
so i open up a web browser, and sure as shit, brings up the web page. fuck comcast.
so, still got plenty to get done, transferring of files and whatnots, so imma get high and do that now.
