Re: San Antonio!

The O.P. Schnabel park off 16 on the NW end of town has paved paths that are wheelchair accessible. Just gotta watch out for the mountain bikers. If you're there at the right time, you can catch all sorts of wildlife. I think Bamberger park off Babcock (near UTSA, NW end of town as well) also has a paved loop, but it's not as new or wheelchair friendly as Schnabel. However, its a much bigger park, with longer hikes available. Hope that helps!

EDIT: I totally forgot about South by South West. If you can get a ride up to Austin, a huge music/movie/art festival will be going down from 3/12-3/21. Millions of people come through, and Austin is a pretty sweet city even when the festival isn't there. Have no idea if it's wheelchair friendly at all, but if you wanna check it out, page is sxsw.com Cheers!

Re: San Antonio!

The vendor prices are crazy, no doubt about it. What I hear from the locals (I've only been here a month) is that every bar in Austin is packed with live bands, many without cover. I don't know if it's true, but apparently the show is such a huge launching pad that every band with a demo in a 4 state radius will be packing up vans, driving into town, and playing whatever gigs they can find. The high times doobie awards will be sunday the 21st, 15$ cover. That's the only event I plan on paying for
