Well I got this text from a freind that said call this number to cast your vote for legalization. When you call they will say thanks for calling the marijuana legalization hotline, then give you a 30 second summary on why we should legalize. Stuff 90% of us already know. Then you press the # key at the end, wait for them to confirm your vote, and hang up.
Apparently if a million votes are recieved it will be presented before congress to be voted upon. The faster we get them in the better chance we get it legalized.
Phone #:973-409-3274
I did call the number and it does work. Make the call and do your part. LEGALIZE!!!!

This is from the Humor Hotlines owner, and sources say it's legit (once they got the malicious hackers to quit screwing around with it!). Here's what I found from him: Quote: | Hello, my name is Michael. I am an intern with RH Brands in Atlanta, Ga. We manage a portfolio of hundreds of humorous hotlines that you may be familiar with such as The Rejection Hotline, Psychiatric Hotline, It Could Always Suck More, and Call to Santa. you can find out more at rejectionhotline.com. Today, I ran across some tweets of yours saying that our Marijuana Legalization Endorsement Line (973-409-3274) is a scam. I just wanted to let you know that we arent scamming anyone. All of our numbers are completely free to call, and we fully intend on sending a petition to Washington once we reach 1,000,000+ endorsements. Although most of our services are humor related, this particular line isnt. Sorry for any confusion. Feel free to contact us with any questions regarding the number, and have a good day. |

All the more reason for everyone here to call and vote. The marijuana culture is huge. It wouldnt take long to get the million votes needed. If we all posted on forums like this, told our friends, and everyone else we know who uses, it may be possible to get 10 Million+ votes. If that doesn't change their minds, along with all the other online petitions, petitions already presented, and the entire online community for it then I suppose nothing ever will.

I take it this is the same one mentioned in another thread, scam or not, do you really think the government will take any notice of a phone poll for legalization from a company called Humour Hotlines, I doubt it very much, no matter how many votes they get.
If you want to participate in getting MJ legal, contact your local NORML or other reputable activism groups, going through the right channels will achieve far more than phoning some phone poll that the government will just ignore.

I agree with smokey one this one. Also, you should write, email or whatever your state representatives and senators along with helping your local activism groups.

I agree. Sure, it might do nothing, but it definitely WON'T do anything if we just blow it off. Not saying it's an alternative for getting involved with NORML or anything, but it's something we can try along with joining the major groups as well. ^_^

this phone number is just creating more awareness about reform. i guess.
with that nice piece said.
this phone number is basically WORTHLESS.
Dont waste youre time. Its the easiest thing besides clicking yes on an online poll to do for legalizing pot, i guess, and if you really want to help legalize pot, its gonna take some work. more than just dialing a number on your phone. please get realistic about these things. I think its worthless, and a serious publicity stunt by a humor hotline.
sad to see efforts wasted. I think we all want and know pot should be legalized. whats calling a humor hotline number gonna do to change that. nothing, and now they have the satisfaction of now knowing their stunt worked magnificintly.

He made it clear that it's NOT a humor line - it's an actual poll that they will send to a the councel IF they get enough votes. The only way it WILL be worthless is if you don't do anything with it, in My opinion.

You want a number that is ten times more effective than this silly hotline poll?......
Here is President Obama's, The White House hot line number... (202) 456-1111
Im serious, it works. Try it. But something tells me most people passing this number are so easy to call and click a few numbers because it is so easy. Talk all you want about some action is good action, and you are right. But Lets weigh each number and see which one comes out as the heavyweight, and which one you would want in your corner when it comes down to it.
Its time to REALLY get involved, and toss this hanky-panky, calling hot line and voting online where it gets laughed at by the Commander in Chief, with and in front of good upstanding everyday Americans, probably half of which smoke weed, but were too nervous to boo the hypocrite business out the window. show some serious strength and lets focus on the most effective way to create change. Visit local lawyers, or law makers and see if any of them support Marijuana reform. You dont have to sell anything to anyone, but it might take more than dialing some numbers to get pot legalized in our lifetime. See if anyone is willing to sponsor or help write legislation in support of pot reform. It just takes conversation as the most effective way to get things done.
You just have to put your energy in going to the right place. Not turning to Humor Hotline Industries to make it happen for you, and turn in a call list of a million people the white house already knows exist from the online polls they did when Prez Obama was elected.
Im not trying to rain on anyone's parade. With all this said, i still support anything anyone is willing to do in favor of positive action towards making reform a reality. Im just trying to suggest with all this hoopla surrounding Marijuana, and people who have been in reform for the last 30-40 years now saying they see more talk about positive movement in changing laws than they ever have. You are gonna see some scandly operations come out of the woodwork to try to capitalize. I appreciate the energy and commitment to reform that this "funny" number has brought to the table though. It sure has made its rounds to almost EVERY circle of college kids in the nation. its mind blowing actually to think how many people passed this number around by word of mouth, just think if they all called that White House number.........................

I'm just saying, I'm pretty sure everyone here is on the same side of the fight for legalization. No need to preach to the choir when they're trying to do something little to help the cause. I did say it was a good suggestion on the number you gave too :P
