Foliar Feeding

Hey everyone. No one is posting in the general cultivation section so I'm going to give it a try. I have completed two grows myself, and I have a buddy who has completed four. We got into a discussion on foliar feeding. He only foliar feeds during the veg cycle, while I foliar feed up until about 4 weeks into flowering.

During veg we both use a 1 litre solution of warm water mixed with neem oil and about 5 mL of Liquid Karma. Then, when I continue to foliar feed in flower, I use just water with the Liquid Karma.

So I guess I just kind of want to hear anyone else's experiences with foliar feeding, whether good or bad, and what cycles you used this technique.

Re: Foliar Feeding

I wish somone could tell me the true textbook answer behind that question. All i ever read is usually just somones opinion. I have tried it and noticed what appered to be results( the next day a noticable recharge of green ). But whether or not its right for the plant or to what extent I couldn't tell ya. On The Grow Report Zandor was talking about using it when the plant is big and nutes would take a long time going from root to tip so I would assume it would be a big prob already into flower plant he was talking about. I do think it was a good idea about laying off late into flower, but who knows, maybe fter getting a good shower of fresh water would wash all the excess off and you can foiliar feed closer to harvest. Maybe an expert will come around and get it straight.

Re: Foliar Feeding

Foliar feeding can cause bud rot if for any reason it doesn't dry out by dark photoperiod due to getting dampness deep between the buds. Unfortunately bud rot starts inside the buds where you don't see. So be careful if you do.

I don't foliar feed, but I can see where if you have pest problem...evident by the mention of neem oil, then it may be essential.

Zandor has a hi $$$ mister/fogger, and I believe he would say not to do it deep into flower, or maybe not at all. Environmental conditions as well as strain may very well have something to do with success/failure
