If it's indoors and minimum start-up cost and easy to manage for a newb-
and best if quality is not compromised; what would I need to buy and get to grow some bud?

I'm completely new to do so I would appreciate it so much if anyone has some advice for me?

At the very minimum you need a light source, a timer, a fan, soil, seeds and if odor is an issue, a carbon filter. I'm in the process of finishing a little indoor grow area right now. I purchased a reflector, 400/600 watt ballast, reflector, HPS bulb, mylar, timer, light hanger, soil, pots, and a few other accessories for about $550. Also bought white paint, electrical supplies, ducts and vent for another $150 or so. I've venting outdoors so no carbon filter. Built a fan out of an old fireplace blower, saving about $100. There are cheaper systems available on eBay but I didn't like their quality.

MMM i guess it would depend on what you are looking to get out of this? Are you looking for just enough to supply yourself or are you trying to get 10 lbs out of the grow. If you are trying to supply yourself and get your feet wet without spending too much money i would maybe look into getting a 150-250 watt hps and some kind of autoflowering strain and you could easily supply yourself with a few ounces depending on how many you plant. But if you are looking for something bigger id look into getting a 400 watter and up i guess it really depends what you are looking for

this was me 3 weeks ago , my room is 3x3 so it's personal use only. 1st look for sales i wanted to go with hps for flowering and cfl's for vegging. i got 2 cfl's on sale for $38 ea. light bulbs where $40 each . i got a 250 watt hps for $190 bulb $15 . combined they have 4988 lumes per sq. ft. and i plan on using cfl'l until ready to flower and then use both kinds of lights.i have $50 in wood as my closet was 4x4 i wanted smaller to be able to get away with less monthly bills on lighting $20 in paint i bought the cheapest lowes have . $20 in hanging chains and hooks for lights. if you got a room that don't need to be downsized you'll only need the lights . you can get a carbon air filter at wall mart for $40-$50 for oder if needed. just remember you don't have to buy everything right away. look for sales ,try ebay for lights . seed banks have huge differences in prices also , nirvana , the attitude and seed boutique are reasonably priced with a good selection. with everything i've bought including seeds and dirt i have around $$550-$600 i figure my 1st grow will pay for it all plus i get good smoke with out the hassle of looking for it(priceless!)
