Stoner Buck$$: 206.44 | Hydro vs. Soil Lets have it out!!!
Ok guys, I want to see the pros and cons of both! Opinions welcome from both ends. I myself am an Aeroflo guy for 2 years now. I have used various hydro rigs and systems in the past, but since moving to California I have noticed that all my old buddies are in pots and soil. Should I switch?? Gimme the good and bad!!! Stoner Buck$$: 266.44 | Re: Hydro vs. Soil Lets have it out!!! Soil...always. Because..... I use Promix B. It is totally clean. It has no pH and is almost desicate. Sure ya don't get the yield like you do with hydro. I USED to grow with Waterfarms and found them to be maintenance intensive. The dissolved salts clogged the feed tube at LEAST twice a grow. And what a pain in the ass it is to clear them. PLUS...if you make a mistake in your mix, hydro isn't very forgiving. Conversely, soil is VERY forgiving and it's easy to fix errors. I've also found that the organic nutrients work particularly well in soil as opposed to hydro. All that and even you hydro guys must admit that the taste of soil grown weed is WAY better than hydro weed. That's my arguement for soil. Thank you, Zoobag ~~~^..^~~~ |

Not a single thing wrong with dirt, that is if you like slow growing and lower yeilding plants.
Not a single thing wrong with dirt, especially if your an in-experienced grower that has no clue what he's doing.
Not a single thing wrong with dirt, if you live in the country and have a way of disposeing all that used dirt.
and the list can go on and on, if you haven't guessed by now I'm a hydro guy

I live in an apt,on the 3rd floor, in the same building as the leasing agent and the office.dirt is not an option.
"it tastes better" grown in dirt-not if you know what youre doing.
hydro can be just as organic as dirt, you just have to watch which products you use,you can get larger faster yields in less space with a little effort.
dirt is great if like jj said you have the space, but if you live in the city or an apt bldg, your only real option is hydro imo

Yeah we Im a hydro guy myself, though I agree with everyone who commented. Just recently I moved some Boggle gum from Dixie cups to 1gallon pots. This is my first time with dirt(promix) and I have to say. I hated it! Dirt everywhere. I must admit. I may only do one round with soil. I love the taste of hydro over soil, but everyone I've seen growing in soil has HUGE beautiful plants. Much bigger than in my aeroflo system. I keep getting the feeling that I'm sacrificing quality for quantity. Not really what I'm in it for you know... I am from the city, just moved out west to the mountains. Posted via Mobile Device |

Posted via Mobile Device | Piff, I've watched countless hydro grow logs over the years and tried a darn many of the systems I've seen. Never did try aeroflow as too many folks had the same comments about it as you seem to have. It's is the most unforgiving hydro system out there, one little bumb and it's over. I wish ya the best but if your wiling to experiment try some form of ebb & flow or DWC if your adventurous.
