Hello everyone
Please sign the petition that Mr. Tvert will carry to New York and deliver to the NFL commissioners offices. Quote: Tell the National Football League to
STOP driving its players to drink.
This past weekend, the National Football League announced the suspension of New England Patriots running back Kevin Faulk, who was caught entering a concert in New Orleans carrying a few cigars sprinkled with marijuana.
Along with the suspension, the league fined him two week's pay -- more than $300,000 -- just for possessing a small amount of marijuana! Yet, the NFL receives hundreds of millions of dollars in sponsorships and advertising from companies that produce and sell a far more harmful substance: ALCOHOL.
SAFER is taking action and
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Please sign the petition at link Tackle the Hypocrisy! - Tell the NFL to stop driving its players to drink.
It takes just one click and one minute of your time to sign SAFER's on-line petition at Tackle the Hypocrisy! - Tell the NFL to stop driving its players to drink. and add your voice to this effort. Then use the petition's "Tell-A-Friend" feature to spread the word to others!
SAFER Executive Director Mason Tvert will visit the league's head office in New York City this week to deliver a formal letter from SAFER and its supporters to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, letting him know that this madness needs to end.
Here are some excerpts from SAFER's on-line petition to be delivered to the National Football League:
Players with the National Football League who use marijuana instead of alcohol to relax and recreate are making a rational choice to use a less harmful substance...
Unless the NFL plans to suspend every player who receives a speeding ticket -- which is considered an offense on par with marijuana possession in some states -- it has absolutely no reason to suspend players for the simple use and possession of marijuana. Doing so is not only irrational, but given the NFL's acceptance and blatant promotion of alcohol, it is exceptionally hypocritical...
Marijuana is safer than alcohol and the National Football League's substance abuse policy should be changed immediately to reflect that fact.
Please CLICK HERE to sign the on-line petition, and after you sign it...
Please FORWARD this alert!
The more people who sign this petition, the more attention it will receive from the NFL, the media, and the public. Please forward it along to any friends, family or co-workers who might agree that it's time the NFL changes its marijuana policy and stops punishing players for making the SAFER choice.
