Stoner Buck$$: 416.58 | arthritis, musculoskeletal pain - best varieties
hi all,
I don't live in a cannabis-friendly place but am considering treating my chronic pain with it since it is one of the very few things that reduces my osteoarthritis pain (back, hip, feet etc) and makes it feel good to move. The more it hurts to move the more immobile I become, and I'm hoping I can break out of this cycle with something I can grow myself.
While I've only smoked a few times a year for the last several years, I do notice that some pot is more physically soothing than others and wondered what varieties might be the best for physical pain without being too sedative. Or does pain relief and sedation pretty much go hand in hand?
Thanks for any advice,
hathor

Hi im not a medicinal user myself but try something like an indica dom hybrid. NL#5xHaze maybe a good one as you have the narcotic high of the NL#5 and the up high of the haze. | |

There are some strains good for pain without the couchlock effect,I recomend you check out mandala seeds or anything with a high cbd content. These are usually listed on strain guide.CBD is what makes mj good for medi users, great for pain and helps with spasticity.
I will look for more,meanwhile,check www.universityofseeds.com
they have an extensive guide with discriptions,im sure there is something there to suit.
Let us know what you think.

thanks Hydro, that site is really substantial considering it hasn't been around that long. lots of good information... going to have to get some nerve up and buy some seeds since the random handful i started is yielding only one plant and it looks to be a sativa.
i know i'm preaching to the choir but i'm really pissed lately that i've got to creep around like a f#@%!^ criminal to get some relief. or just have some damn fun without damaging my liver and pancreas (sick of alcohol)
may it all change soon...

Stoner Buck$$: 351.78 | Re: arthritis, musculoskeletal pain - best varieties I have the same issues, it my hips and my back. Heres the thing CBD is the thing that gives you Couchlock and most Indicas are high in CBD which helps with pain, however most resource guides only mention the THC content. So the best way to get what you need is grow yourself. I have found some Sativas that work very well for daytime pain relief but for the most part it is trial and error, whatever does work stick with it however you can. Durban Poison & Diesel are a favorite for me. Also keep in mind that even though you may have a straight sativa if not properly maintained it will turn to a bud that has a higher CBD count based on oxidation and busted trichs, so handle with care and don't let it dry out to much. I store all my buds in mason type jar that has a air lock on it, keeps a 1/2 oz fresh for about 2 or so weeks with no re-hydration necessary.

Thanks SM, i confess we don't take as good care of what little we get ahold of as we should. we only just started smoking again, and mostly not often. i hope that will change! we just keep it in a bag that's inside a tin. time to look into a humidor maybe.
thanks for the strain tips too. i suspect i'll have to live with the pain by day and enjoy the couchlock at night. it's not as if i'm going to be entering good housekeeping competitions.

thanks Hunny~ hubby and i got ahold of a little late last year (after none for a few years) and I'm pretty sure it's sativa. it does help pain little but it seems like we have to smoke a lot or i do) to get the awesome 'my feet don't hurt' feeling.
on the other hand it makes us chatty in the really good way & makes leaving work behind easier on the weekends
i think one of two little plants i have going is indica but no idea if it's a girl yet. have a satty femme coming along despite the abuse i've dished out. want to buy some seeds but am still really nervous about it.
do you recommend any particular varieties?
