Been ghosting around this forum for a while but i decided to finally make an account, and ask a very important question.

So heres my story, and my condition. My young nephew threw a pair of keys and it landed square on in my eye. The result was a big macular hole. For those who dont know what a macular hole is, its when a hole forms in the macula, usually this happens because of age, but in some rare cases trauma. So i had a surgery where they insterted a bubble in my eye, and i had to position my face in a downwards angle for a week. The Hole closes though so thats good but im seeing floaters, and now, i have a meduim sized cataract in my eye because of this surgery.

Now then my question is, will maryjay help me or hurt me? Ive been smoking pot for years now, but im worried it could hurt my sight because of all the damage my eye has gone through. Someone told me thats it good for me though because of the cataract? Let me know guys and thanks ALOT!!!!!

damn thats a true freak accident..sorry to hear about that. i think it might help, but something as serious/rare as that i wouldn't just take our word for it. anyway you can just ask your dr. w/o him/her freaking? really need a dr.'s opinion i'd say.

i've given this scenario some thought and have trouble coming to a conclusion. there's alot of research out there about intraocular pressure/effects of smoking/ and eye damage but since you have a previous history with the macular hole its hard to give you an answer without being able to examine and review all your info. i don't think mj will help your situation at all, but i'm not sure about it hurting you.

i'm with most others on this thread, this is absolutely a subject you should bring up with your doctor. there's no need to feel embarassed or awkward, trust me- it wont be the first time he's heard the question, and certainly not the last!! doctors are there to give you advice regarding your own health and well being, not to judge you or scold you for doing things they don't approve of. so go ahead and broach the subject and see what he/she has to say!

SIDENOTE: this is to anyone replying to a thread involving a medical question and just replying that the person should keep on toking...... are you a doctor? do you have any qualifications regarding this advice?
obviously we here at SF love our maryjane and love to encourage its use but stop and think a minute if what your saying could have potentially dangerous effects for someone else not because of any malintent but simply because you don't understand the situation.

take everything on here with a grain of salt, especially when it comes to something as serious as your health!!!

Ive decided to book an appointment with the doc, and ill ask him. Do eye docters get asked marijauana related questions frequently?

Im pretty sure they do,maybe not every day but often.I know I always fess up to smoking at any doctor and they dont usually scorn me.the one usually gets a little red and says"no I cant prescribe you pot"
