first off id like to make my statement as someone with ADD/ADHD though its not debilitating (spelling? stoned lol) i can have negitive effects on your life more so from the perscribed medications i.e riddilin or now methylphenadate ,adderal, concerta or what ever kinda speed they are feeding kids these days i took riddilin in the begin before it was banned and switched to methylphenadate which is what took i was diagnosed in 4th grade starting at 5mg in the morning afternoon and night and moved up to 110mg aday until 10grade where i started smoking pot and sell my script or trading it for weed it was then i notice that marijuana was a possitive alternative for me regained appitite, more social again, not so zombie-like in a bad way, and my overal mode increaced so from there i have just self-medicated my self imo plus just had some fun as well lol but my question is this:
in what states if any does anyone know of add/adhd has a legit reason to be give medical marijuana?

I would have to say none i do not know but i know doctors will not give cannabis to people with mental disorders i have bi polar and have talked with my doc many times about this they think the negative side effects outweigh the pros of cannabis for people with mental illness cause yes it's does work as a medication but if stop taking it can cause alot more problems then say someone who does not have mental disorder..

I can't believe with the ADD-ADHD treatment medication that you are in taking with a high dosage. It really gives you a lot effect of it. Got to think how is your condition when you take a high dosage?

i dont know about it much but i know that after i made a personal choice not to take my meds and was getting stoned and weed seemed to get to the root of the problem as well with no harmful side effects except eating but when i took methylphenidate i wasnt hungry ever...

i blame ritalin for a lot of my problems in school its messed up when i was takin that stuff i felt depressed and anti social and had no appetite even when i felt hungry. it was really bad. not long after that i discovered weed which basically did all the exact opposite things to me that ritalin did and i really liked it. i started spittin the ritalin out in the trash when teh school nurse was makin me take it. and would go home and blaze all nite after school and havnt stopped since.

Don't know much about weed and ADD, but i know that weed has helped my anxiety and depression more than any meds I've ever been on.

gald to see some feedback on this topic and Dboon i know exactly what you are talking about man weed just evened me out so much better and i felt alive again for the first time in 6 years when i stoped taking that shit...

I have add.......oooo something shiny........ pot works great for it. I was on adderall for 4 years, and it has caused me nothing but woe since being off it. I am so glad pot can fix the same thing as well. I took ridalin or however you spell it for a month when I was 9, but I too felt like a zombie. Parents just like that shiz because it takes the work out of parenting. What ever happened to kids being kids and letting them make their own judgement call on things like add meds and other things that mess with ones brain when their older? It's odd, a doctor can give a 7 year old speed but not pot. I should show you a pic of me on ritalin, I was a rail. Never ate, but I also never knew I was hungry.

yea no doctors dont give a shit when the sell things like that they get pay increases like cops do for busts and shit...it all hindsight i shouldnt have to have a reason to smoke herb it should just be my choice...but i do think that on a medical level weed is a good alternative to add meds....

Well I suffer from OCD, and I find that marijuana reduces my anxiety and I don't do my rituals as much, or get obsessions. I haven't discussed it with my psychologist though. Just my 2 cents.

Marijuana has helped me with my OCD as well. I used to be really anxious, depressed and obsessive-compulsive. Since I've started smoking, that all just goes away.
