| The Snake Head
The new book I just bought at my local Barnes and Noble to fight off NFL boredom today. But the book now out in hardback only is about an epic tale 0f Chinatown underworld and the American Dream.
In the 80's a wave of Chinese from the Fujian province began arriving in America with an intense work ethic and belief in the promise of America. Many of them lived in a world outside the law working in a shadow economy overseen by the ruthless gangs that ruled NY's Chinatown...
But the figure who came to dominate this Chinese underworld was a middle-aged grannie known as Sister Ping!
She owns a tiny noodle shop on Hester street and from her shop she made $40 million bucks smuggling ppl into the country. That is what a "Snake Head" does.
As a snake head Sister Ping built a global conglomerate and employed one of Chinatowns most violent gangs to protect her power and profits....
An underworld CEO she is...LOL...
In Chinatown she is revered as a home grown "Don Corleone"/
And "The LAW" could never quite catch her....
It took the famous "Jade Squad" and the FBI 10 years to bring this lady down. An intimate tour on the mean streets of Chinatown and organized crime in an age of globalizations.
Well that should get me through the Tampa Bay Bucs losing AGAIN! And give me a good female subject to study and dissect. Sister Ping was quite an operator INDEED! What a woman with ALL THAT POWER!
A Chinese GODMOTHER!!!!!!!
