I've always just used warm water and Q-tips to clean out my pipe but recently I've been wondering what the proper way to clean pipes is. I know some people use alcohol, i know some who use salt, and i know some who boil theirs. How do you guys do it?

I was at the head shop and found " pipe wipes" they are cool but I bet alcohol pads would do the same, just cheaper.

use fresh water and rinse it real well. should take care of the taste

make sure you use salt with the alcohol to be a abrasive in on the glass.When done rinse it out with the garden house.

a buddy of mine just put it in a 420 bath, its like a new chillum all over again!

Formula 420 (that stuff is amazing), and some of those long fuzzy pipe cleaners, and I'm good to go.

If I don't feel like putting the effort into it, sometimes I'll put my smaller pipes in the dishwasher. Cleans them pretty good.

I used to boil my glass, but that creates a nasty smell (read: cashed bowl) throughout the house.

I usually do the alcohol and salt thing, since I'm too cheap to spring for the Formula 420 Cleaner. I boil glass pieces as a last resort, if they're really resiny. That eliminates the annoying task of scrubbing.

I've recently discovered that Purell works amazingly well to dissolve any residue on glass. It's cheap and available in almost any grocery store or pharmacy. It also smells better than alcohol.

ive done the boiling thing, that worked well, but you should keep in mind that the pot you are using to boil it in will be, essentially, ruined. got my pipe crystal clear tho, with minimal effort.

ive done the alcohol thing, and the alcohol + salt. deffinately use the salt with it, fill your pipe, or put it in a ziplock bag with the a + s in there and shake the shit out of it. repeat a few more times, and it should be nice and clean. rinse from there and there shouldnt be any nasty aftertaste to it.

Ziploc ( or any bag with a water proof seal)

so heres what u do throw( not litturaly) if u have a pipes/bubbler if its small put them in the bag then do 10%-15% salt and 85% achoachal SIZZPE it and shake the shit outta it then when u feel its clean run some water through it and TOKE UP

Oxyclean. Glass will look, smell and taste like brand new.

hot water and a tooth pick or something of that sort always worked well for me kinda messy but it works. and i got everything i need to do it right here.

I use Formula 420 and it works well, negative is I have to scrape the bowl sometime with a broken Q Tip or toothpick. I'm surprised y'all say its expensive cuz I usually pay about 3 bucks for a 10 oz bottle that lasts me a few months.


Boiling is good but ruins pans, I boiled a few in the microwave before with plastic butter bowls (ya know, the bowls you buy butter in) it stunk up the microwave but not the house......boiled it in a pot one time...stunk up the entire apartment complex (8 plex and 7 out of 8 tenants were smokers anyway)
