I was recently asked to design a cover for a pamphlet that is to be passed out an an award luncheon an organization called the Toastmasters is having. Their theme, ironically, is Alice in Wonderland, which I just happen to madly adore. Trouble was, they couldn't use the copyrighted Disney imagery, and they wanted an artist to "donate" their depiction of the tea party scene, as this is a non-profit group (but it couldn't be the twisted Wonderland version...that's ok though, I'm in the middle of doing another Alice piece with more of a darker twist which I'll post once it's finished). I was more than ecstatic to try and help out and did this piece in 2-3 days, since I'd been given a deadline of like, less than a week. But I happen to enjoy working under pressure, so it was all good.
I just got the committee's approval for it yesterday, so it seems definite they'll use my design. This is the first time anything I've drawn will be shown at a social gathering of 200-400 people, many professionals with possible connections that could seriously help me out. Wishful thinking anyways. So yeah, I'm pretty damn happy. Time for a victory smoke.
