Stoner Buck$$: 1,479.46 | A poem. This is called "Silence" wrote it last night. A little insight in case some of you don't know, I'm Deaf and I recently saw something on youtube made by a deaf person and all the negative comments that followed inspired me to write a poem.
Silence
In my head
white noise
air
nothingness
a picture
someone talking
lips are moving
nothing
live in my world
hear what I hear
see what I see
feel what I feel
you can't
you don't understand
you live free
you hear the birds
you hear the music
you hear the voice
you're not imprisoned by nothingness
you're not lost in desolation
you're not wondering whats going on
you live free
I want to live free
to hear the music
to hear the birds
to hear the cry of a child
the whisper of a lover
the comfort of a mother's voice
I can't
I try
I can't
But I still go on.

Stoner Buck$$: 889.42 | Re: A poem. Very cool man, very heavy. I hope it made you smile to write it, because I smiled while I read it. On a side note, do you like bass? My father taught at a deaf school and apparently their concerts/dances consisted of almost entirely of a ridiculously loud, throbbing bass line. Only curious.

The deeper the better lol.
Yeah but I love a lot of other types of music too. Only types of music I don't like are the kinds I can't really hear (Choir, A Capella, Opera, most classical, light music etc etc.)
I like rap when I'm in the car with a respectable system in it, make the car shake, make my butt vibrate, thats good stuff....I don't really care for what the rappers are singing about but I sure enjoy the thump.
but the type of music which I know the most about?.....Country (go figure) lol.

Stoner Buck$$: 220.37 | Re: A poem. hey psycrow, and life goes on, eh?
I had to give up work and look after my severely disabled little girl of 5 and with that i can definately relate to the freedom bit.
im basically shackled to the house and my little girls needs and the only time i get out is when her mother decides to come over and sit with her for a bit.
Day to day....
and thats the only way....
oh nearly forgot ....that deserves some karma....

And as an add on to Osprey's question, have you ever thought about trying a drum circle? I travelled to one recently with some close friends for 3day drum weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was the most fantastic experience. It might be worth checking out in the future.
more poems pls

le grá, Lu x | I'm blessed that I can still hear music somewhat. I enjoy listening to music weather or not I can hear the lyrics, if I like the song so much or I hear good things about it, I try my hardest to learn the lyrics (try listening to the same song for 3 hours just to be able to finally determine what is vocal and what is music) I ENJOY music, its the ONLY thing I'd wish I was hearing for, to hear the music. Once I have children, that will change, but until then, the only reason I'd ever want to be able to hear...is for music (don't get me wrong, I'd love to hear other things, but I'm not passionate about them like music.)
Drum Circle sounds really cool, I actually have a set of drums at my parent's house sitting in the basement ready to go as soon as I find a place big enough for em. Never learned to play but I enjoyed banging away on them. I'd love some information about that.
My GF is part Cherokee Native American, she has been hounding me to go to a pow wow and watch the drums and dance routines, I keep finding out that theres one in our area when we CAN'T afford to go (I know pow wows are free but getting to them isn't) One of these days we're gonna go and I'm sure I'm going to enjoy it, I have memories from 5th and 6th grade when they had Native Americans come to our school and have pow wows, I enjoyed the drums then, I'm sure I'll enjoy them now.
Yes I have a lot of poems, however, they're on another computer which is dead right now. Most of them deal with a very dark and depressing time of my life and I really don't like to share them because I fear they will scare people, but I'll try to find some and share with you (and the rest of y'all)
Thanks for the interest in my poem and I really hope it does change people's attitudes towards those who are born with disabilities or become disabled, we didn't ask for this, nor did we have a choice when it happened to us and it really hurts when people are negative towards those of us with "disabilities" when its not our fault we have them and theres nothing we can do about them. I watched an episode of Extreme Home Makeover, there was a blind young man, I believe he was 20, he was an amazing soul, a beautiful musician, and he was on the University of Louisville band, at one point in the show he said "I don't believe I'm disabled because I can't see, not being able to see means I don't judge people by how they look, I believe those of you who CAN see, are the disabled ones." I'm not ashamed to admit that made me start bawling like a baby.
Sometimes you gotta live the life of someone less fortunate to really understand how to live life.

You know I never really thought about being deaf to its full extent. I mean sure, I think about it, but there is no possible way I could EVER understand or actually feel... but your poem really opened my eyes. It is very powerful, and thank you for sharing.
You definitely deserve some good Karma for that. It says I have to spread it around first, so just consider yourself karmaized.
Peace and Pot.
